We're Hiring!

Maritime Instructor(Freelance Remote)

HS Academy Services Inc., currently in the final stages of obtaining Transport Canada certification, is seeking qualified freelance Maritime Instructors to collaborate remotely on the development and delivery of specialized training courses for inland vessels, near coastal voyages (NCV), and unconventional operations.

As a newly launched startup, this opportunity is currently voluntary/freelance and unpaid — but it offers full flexibility, remote engagement, and the potential for future paid roles or even partnership with our growing organization.

We welcome instructors who are passionate about maritime education and eager to help shape the foundation of a Transport Canada-recognized training provider.

Start as a freelance instructor, grow with us into a paid role with benefits — and help lead the future of maritime training in Canada.

The selected instructor must be qualified to teach maritime courses in accordance with Transport Canada’s regulations and criteria. This includes:

Holding valid certificates of competency, a TFT (Training for Trainers) certificate, and preferably a recognized teaching diploma

Ability to align all course content and instruction with the relevant Transport Canada TP publications

Understanding of the instructor and course approval process, and experience preparing material that meets Transport Canada’s delivery, assessment, and compliance standards

Ensuring that the course delivery is adequate and covers all essential elements of the approved syllabus under Transport Canada guidelines

Qualifications (Required & Preferred):

Required:

Valid Transport Canada certificates, including:

Maritime certificate relevant to inland and/or NCV operations

TFT (Training for Trainers) certification (mandatory)

Experience teaching or serving aboard inland, NCV, or unconventional vessels

Strong familiarity with Transport Canada regulations, navigation procedures, and safety standards

Ability to create or adapt course content to meet industry and regulatory standards

Fluency in English (spoken and written)

Fluency in Persian (Farsi) (spoken and reading comprehension)

Must be currently residing in Canada

Ability and willingness to dedicate time and effort in a start-up environment, including flexibility, teamwork, and self-motivation

Preferred:

Prior experience as a maritime instructor or trainer

Experience with online or hybrid teaching environments

Familiarity with STCW convention and IMO standards

Additional languages (e.g., French) considered an asset

What We Offer:

100% Remote work

Flexible freelance schedule

Opportunity to contribute to the development of Transport Canada–aligned maritime training programs

For committed contributors: potential for official salaried positions with benefits once the company reaches its revenue goals

Possibility of long-term leadership roles or strategic involvement as the organization expands (non-equity based)

Work within a friendly and professional team
